New Zealand National Committee
Welcome to the website of the New Zealand National Committee of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.
Through the New Zealand national office staff, the committee oversees training, continuing medical education and issues pertaining to anaesthesia in New Zealand. It represents the College in dealing with the New Zealand Government and national agencies such as the Ministry of Health and the Medical Council of New Zealand (the registration body for anaesthetists.
The committee advises the ANZCA Council on New Zealand issues, convenes continuing medical education events for Fellows, runs examination preparation courses for trainees and provides a forum for liaison between training hospitals and the College.
Our website highlights activities undertaken by the committee and provides easy access to material relevant to Fellows and trainees.

New Zealand journalist wins ANZCA media award
TVNZ health journalist Lorelei Mason has won the inaugural $5000 ANZCA media award for the best news story or feature about anaesthesia or pain medicine that appeared in the Australian or New Zealand media in 2011. Ms Mason is the health reporter for Television New Zealand News and her entry, “Awake Craniotomy”, screened on Close Up, on February 21, 2011. To see the winning entry, please click here.
